It’s not an accident that God places this account in the first few chapters of Genesis because it’s lesson is foundational to the whole redemptive story. We see contrasts between works and grace, the depth of human sin and jealousy, and a prophetic foreshadowing of Christ.
Understanding these truths will open doors to understanding our own inner conflicts and point us to the only answer to the beast within – Jesus.

The scripture says, “For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through endurance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.”
God uses the lives of men and women to teach us important life lessons. He shows the heroes and the failures, their weaknesses and strengths, in hope that it will not only point us to Jesus, but also teach us by example, that we may benefit by the experiences of those who have come before us.
