There Is A Cup

The message is titled “There is a Cup”. We come to the 5th chapter in The Book of Daniel, and it is a somber chapter. Chapters 1-4 have painted a positive picture about what God will do for those that refuse to bow their knee to any other god. In chapter 5, it almost feels like a cautionary tale is being told. Our God is a God of grace and mercy, but King Belshazzar has stepped over the line and comes to the end of the road of grace. God is showing us something very special, and I believe He wants us to see this shift from chapters 1-4 to chapter 5 as a warning for us as individuals and as a nation. God is calling us to be very careful and not take His grace for granted. There is an end of the road. God shows us Daniel chapter 5 because He loves us and wants us to avoid that sudden stop at the end of the road.

From Series: "Postcards From Babylon"

For the next several weeks we will be studying the Book of Daniel and how God revealed Himself in powerful ways even though the people of God were in a difficult place. In this prophetic Old Testament book, we see dreams & visions for the last days, revivals led by pagan kings, miraculous deliverance of God's people, and a blueprint for the church in these tumultuous times. Imagine Daniel captive in Babylon and sending postcards back to those that remain in Judah. He tells a tale of what God will do for His people when they refuse to worship idols and bow to pagan authority. As we read Daniel's postcards we gain great insight helping us to remain strong in these days of pagan captivity.
