The message was titled "TO THE ELDERS AMONG YOU".
Church leadership and Satanic opposition can be likened to a game of chess. Both sides looking for strategic advantage. Each move is important and must be calculated with wisdom as a wrong move may quickly reveal a trap that ends the game. In chess it's just a game, in the church it may be life and death.
Peter writes in 1 Peter 5:1 “To the elders among you.” He finishes his letter and list of important relationships to undergird in preparation for coming persecution with an admonition to the elders of the church. This last message in the series will focus on the importance of the relationship between church members and church leaders and how this relationship is one of the enemy’s most used targets.
Peter shows us how to shut the door and finish the game with all pieces intact and the board fully under the control of our King
From Series: "When Rome Roars"
Peter is writing to believers that are trying to live for Christ in a culture that is becoming increasingly unfriendly to Christians. There are significant parallels in 1 Peter to the culture we live in today. Peter sees first-century society becoming hostile and knows that more is coming, so he writes this great letter of encouragement equipping the believers to stand in tough times and look to the greater glory that will be revealed. This series is for the faithful follower of Christ who hears the roar of Rome in the air but is determined to remain steadfast in Christ.
