What is going to happen next?; Building of the Third Temple - Pastor Rich Laskowski

Last week we talked about the prophesy in Isaiah 17 that declares that Damascus Syria will be destroyed.

Today:
The rebuilding of the Jewish Temple on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem.

I. I Believe that we will see both of these fulfilled.

- Today there is no temple for the Jews
- Today there is no animal sacrifice for the Jews
- Today there is no official priesthood for the Jews

All of these were very important to the Jews in their history and the Old Testament.

;II. History of the Jewish Temple

1st temple:

A. The 2nd King of Israel David wanted to build a temple to honor Jehovah.

1. God would not allow it because he had been a man of war and bloodshed

B. David son Solomon would build the temple

1Ch 22:7 David said to Solomon: ;My son, I had it in my heart to build a house for the Name of the LORD my God.; 8 But this word of the LORD came to me: 'You have shed much blood and have fought many wars. You are not to build a house for my Name, because you have shed much blood on the earth in my sight. 9 But you will have a son who will be a man of peace and rest, and I will give him rest from all his enemies on every side. His name will be Solomon, and I will grant Israel peace and quiet during his reign.

1. Solomon built a wonderful building
2. Solomon prays that God would hear the prayers directed towards the temple.

1Ki 8:29 May your eyes be open toward this temple night and day, this place of which you said, 'My Name shall be there,' so that you will hear the prayer your servant prays toward this place. 30 Hear the supplication of your servant and of your people Israel when they pray toward this place. Hear from heaven, your dwelling place, and when you hear, forgive.

1Ki 8:33 ;When your people Israel have been defeated by an enemy because they have sinned against you, and when they turn back to you and confess your name, praying and making supplication to you in this temple, 34 then hear from heaven and forgive the sin of your people Israel and bring them back to the land you gave to their fathers.; 35 t;When the heavens are shut up and there is no rain because your people have sinned against you, and when they pray toward this place and confess your name and turn from their sin because you have afflicted them, ;36 then hear from heaven and forgive the sin of your servants, your people Israel. Teach them the right way to live, and send rain on the land you gave your people for an inheritance. 37 ;When famine or plague comes to the land, or blight or mildew, locusts or grasshoppers, or when an enemy besieges them in any of their cities, whatever disaster or disease may come,;38 and when a prayer or plea is made by any of your people Israel-- each one aware of the afflictions of his own heart, and spreading out his hands toward this temple--; 39 then hear from heaven, your dwelling place. Forgive and act; deal with each man according to all he does, since you know his heart (for you alone know the hearts of all men),

C. The temple is completed and God's glory fills it.

2Ch 7:1 When Solomon finished praying, fire came down from heaven and consumed the burnt offering and the sacrifices, and the glory of the LORD filled the temple. 2 The priests could not enter the temple of the LORD because the glory of the LORD filled it. ;3 When all the Israelites saw the fire coming down and the glory of the LORD above the temple, they knelt on the pavement with their faces to the ground, and they worshiped and gave thanks to the LORD, saying, ;He is good; his love endures forever.

D. 350 years go by and Israel has moved away from God.

1. God allows Babylon to come and take Israel captive. The walls torn down, and temple destroyed.

Jer 52:4 So in the ninth year of Zedekiah's reign, on the tenth day of the tenth month, Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon marched against Jerusalem with his whole army. They camped outside the city and built siege works all around it.; 5 The city was kept under siege until the eleventh year of King Zedekiah.;6 By the ninth day of the fourth month the famine in the city had become so severe that there was no food for the people to eat. 7 Then the city wall was broken through, and the whole army fled. They left the city at night through the gate between the two walls near the king's garden, though the Babylonians were surrounding the city. They fled toward the Arabah,; 8 but the Babylonian army pursued King Zedekiah and overtook him in the plains of Jericho. All his soldiers were separated from him and scattered,; 9 and he was captured. He was taken to the king of Babylon at Riblah in the land of Hamath, where he pronounced sentence on him. 10 There at Riblah the king of Babylon slaughtered the sons of Zedekiah before his eyes; he also killed all the officials of Judah. 11 Then he put out Zedekiah's eyes, bound him with bronze shackles and took him to Babylon, where he put him in prison till the day of his death. 12 On the tenth day of the fifth month, in the nineteenth year of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, Nebuzaradan commander of the imperial guard, who served the king of Babylon, came to Jerusalem. 13 He set fire to the temple of the LORD, the royal palace and all the houses of Jerusalem. Every important building he burned down. 14 The whole Babylonian army under the commander of the imperial guard broke down all the walls around Jerusalem.

2nd Temple

E. God had said they would be in captivity 70 years
1. Daniel receives word that the time to go back is approaching.; He begins to pray.

Da 9:1 In the first year of Darius son of Xerxes (a Mede by descent), who was made ruler over the Babylonian kingdom-- 2 in the first year of his reign, I, Daniel, understood from the Scriptures, according to the word of the LORD given to Jeremiah the prophet, that the desolation of Jerusalem would last seventy years.; 3 So I turned to the Lord God and pleaded with him in prayer and petition, in fasting, and in sackcloth and ashes.

F. Through Ezra, Nehemiah, and Zurubbael they return and rebuild walls and the 2nd Jewish Temple

H. Doesn't have same glory, but is finally finished

Ezr 3:11 With praise and thanksgiving they sang to the LORD: He is good; his love to Israel endures forever. And all the people gave a great shout of praise to the LORD, because the foundation of the house of the LORD was laid. 12 But many of the older priests and Levites and family heads, who had seen the former temple, wept aloud when they saw the foundation of this temple being laid, while many others shouted for joy. 13 No one could distinguish the sound of the shouts of joy from the sound of weeping, because the people made so much noise. And the sound was heard far away.

I. Years later King Herod wanting to get Jewish support adds to the temple structure greatly enhancing it.

PROPHETIC MOMENT:
1. Jesus with His disciples look at the temple and he says this:

Lu 21:5 Some of his disciples were remarking about how the temple was adorned with beautiful stones and with gifts dedicated to God. But Jesus said, 6 As for what you see here, the time will come when not one stone will be left on another; every one of them will be thrown down.

2. This prophecy was fulfilled to the letter in 70 AD when the Romans came to stop a Jewish uprising of the Maccabees.

- The temple was not supposed to be destroyed
- Titus had told his leaders to leave the Temple untouched.
- A rumor went around that the Jews had put gold between the stones of the temple.
- They overturned every stone looking for gold and thus fulfilled the words of Jesus.

Today not one stone of the temple is left.

The Jews pray at the western wall - the containing wall of the temple mount.

- Center of mourning over the destruction of the 2nd temple and past exile.
- Communion with the divine presence which they believe still rest upon the temple mount
- To remember Israel's former glory
- Hope for restoration of the Jewish Temple.

As they stand at the wall they remember that above them is the site of past temples, and a future temple.

They Prepare for the Third temple:
- Temple tools and instruments
- Musicians
- Priests are being trained
- Foundation stones are already cut.
- Once a year the Temple Faithful try to lay the corner stone on the mount.

;The Cornerstone for the Third Temple, weighing 13 tons, that the Temple Mount Faithful Movement prepared to be laid on the Temple Mount and start the process of the building of the Third Temple, was carried by the Temple Mount and Land of Israel Faithful Movement as they marched from Ammunition Hill to the Temple Mount on ;Jerusalem Day", 27 Iyar 5769 (21 May 2009). The holy Cornerstone was driven from Ammunition Hill to Jaffa Gate and along the western walls of the Old City to the downtown streets of Jerusalem and was presented to the people of Israel and to the entire world for the first time since the destruction of the Holy Temple in the year 70 CE.

II. Today the Dome of the Rock rests on the temple mount in Jerusalem.

Moslem control the top of the temple mount.

A. Moslems believe that Mohamed went to heaven on a rock
- Their 3rd most holy place

B. Many prophecy teachers believe that the temple could be built beside the Dome of the Rock

III.; The Bible Prophecies that a Third Temple is About to be Rebuilt.

2Th 2:4 He will oppose and will exalt himself over everything that is called God or is worshiped, so that he sets himself up in God's temple, proclaiming himself to be God.

This prophecy about the anti-Christ can only be fulfilled if the 3rd temple is built.

- We know that this happens when a covenant is confirmed

Da 9:27 He will confirm a covenant with many for one 'seven.' In the middle of the 'seven' he will put an end to sacrifice and offering. And on a wing of the temple he will set up an abomination that causes desolation, until the end that is decreed is poured out on him.

- Covenant will include:
- Rebuilding of temple
- Peace and agreement between moslem and; Jew.
- It will be for 7 years
- 31/2 years into it he will break it.
- He will declare that he is Messiah

THE GREATEST SHOW ON EARTH IS COMING:

Re 13:11 Then I saw another beast, coming out of the earth. He had two horns like a lamb, but he spoke like a dragon. 12 He exercised all the authority of the first beast on his behalf, and made the earth and its inhabitants worship the first beast, whose fatal wound had been healed. ;13 And he performed great and miraculous signs, even causing fire to come down from heaven to earth in full view of men. 14 Because of the signs he was given power to do on behalf of the first beast, he deceived the inhabitants of the earth. He ordered them to set up an image in honor of the beast who was wounded by the sword and yet lived.;15 He was given power to give breath to the image of the first beast, so that it could speak and cause all who refused to worship the image to be killed.; 16 He also forced everyone, small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on his right hand or on his forehead,; 17 so that no one could buy or sell unless he had the mark, which is the name of the beast or the number of his name.18 This calls for wisdom. If anyone has insight, let him calculate the number of the beast, for it is man's number. His number is 666. (NIV)

THIS All PLAYS OUT FOR PEOPLE WHO ARE:
- needing answers
- scared
- twisted from years of indoctrination of news, movies, false teaching, and
- Anti a God with standards
- More informed about Nostradamus and other false prophets than what scripture says.
- Looking to a president/leader, rather than the Messiah of the Bible.

IV. There is a Demonic network working in the world today called antichrist

Something is going to be unleashed on this world.

Satan has been preparing for your deception for years.

When it comes it will be sprung without notice and will be tailored perfectly for you based upon your background, and history.

There is only one way to be protected from this deception that is coming.

Stay close to Jesus.

Be lovers of truth

2Th 2:7 For the secret power of lawlessness is already at work; but the one who now holds it back will continue to do so till he is taken out of the way.8 And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus will overthrow with the breath of his mouth and destroy by the splendor of his coming.9 The coming of the lawless one will be in accordance with the work of Satan displayed in all kinds of counterfeit miracles, signs and wonders, 10 and in every sort of evil that deceives those who are perishing. They perish because they refused to love the truth and so be saved. 11 For this reason God sends them a powerful delusion so that they will believe the lie
